Get DPC latency checker as a reference to make sure your drivers are good ,turning off hi precision event timer HPET in my bios gave me 10 to 1 improvement result in DPCLC.

Turn off Aero and all visual effects.
Turn off file indexing for all hard drives.

I'm running Win7 64-bit Ultimate and Home Premium on my laptop and desktop respectively, with indexing and Aero on, and I have had zero problems with it.

I get great performance, can run 192 sample latency with no hiccups or dropouts until I get up to 70%+CPU

Just an FYI. Let the indexing run through for a few days, and you shouldn't have any problems with it

You'll have to do this for each drive or partition, if you happen to have several.

I've turned off most things in Windows 7 and I still experience some crashing. Its bearable, but a fix would be nice.

What version are you getting these crashes with?

I haven't upgraded from 8.1, and (knock on wood) I almost never have crashes on either my desktop or laptop, both running 64-bit Win7
