Better? Worse?
Just wondering because 8.1.3 was fine on mine and when I put 8.1.4 on it started crashing again.
Worth the move?

After experiencing 0 problems with all previous versions of 8, 8.1.5 started crashing like crazy.
*But*, it turned out to be a hardware issue. An external hard drive had errors on it and was causing Live to freeze. Chkdsk fixed it. It was also causing other programs to freeze but I didn't figure this out right away because Live was the only program I was using.
8.1.5 is working great again.
Moral of the story - even though it may seem so, it's not always Live's fault.

so after the first real world test i ve to state that L8 is still the same mess..
it just seems to have became better.. because it seems to work stable on little works and playing around.. as soon you have to do serious business it starts all over again..inl. crashing and all kind of weardo problems... so if you plan to use it.. dont use much plugs,tracks,scenes,clips..what ever..
as the projekt grows it will get to a point where things get unstable again.

The 8.1.6 beta versions load much faster than 8.1.5.
8.1.5. is stable though, but very very slow.

I installed it last night. 8.1.5 didn't crash the first time it opened like version 8.1.3 did, but I deleted the preferences.cfg before I installed it... dunno if that helped, but I don't usually do that. Its off to a good start though fwiw. I even opened and closed Cubase while Live was running and it didn't hang or crash... fingers are crossed.
^ I don't know that my comments above are really all that helpful, but I'm actually replying more because of this:
ShelLuser wrote:to my surprise the MPD worked fully out of the box. Including those shift buttons which never worked.
When you say "out of the box" you mean after the firmware update to the MPD right? You actually tried to help me with that several months ago, but for some reason I couldn't ever get it to take and then gave up on it... Since the transport NEVER worked anyway, I didn't really notice a change in work flow. Still, I've always wanted the MPD transport to work because of the way my studio is setup - it would be really helpful. I'm doubting though, that you restored your MPD to factory settings at any point... or did you???
I'm thinking you mean sans mapping... I just don't wanna get my hopes up too high... my fingers are already crossed about Live

^ thanks Peter. I might take you up on that...
You've inspired me. So has Live 8.1.5 (keeping the faith) and nebulae for some help finding a good reverb... I'm going to take another stab at getting the MPD going proper like... so I'll either PM to thank you or to beg for help
oh, and I did remember the Gadget bit...

I refrained mentioning it because I didn't want to thread jack too bad since its about 8.1.5 not even MPDs but hey, since you brought it up ... I'm looking forward to it.
Peace.

Rock Solid. I've been trying to crash it with huge sets and tons of plugins, and can't seem to make it go sideways (which is a happy moment after some serious problems with 8.1.3 and 8.1.4).
Good luck to those of you still fighting through the issues (IK Multimedia plugs were a big problem for my computer, FYI).
