Hi all,
I'm having trouble assigning the knobs on my new akai mpk25! I click on the midi button, chose the parameter I want to control and turn a knob on the keyboard but nothing happens? Is there something else I should be doing?
thanks

Under
Options/Preferences/MIDI Sync do you have
Remote turned
On for your MPK25?
ALSO, if you want to automatically map your knobs and faders, you can choose the MPK under Control Surface, Input and Output. You can probably use the MPK49 preset if you don't have one for the MPK25 because they both have the same set of controls.

Ok problem solved! Thanks alot
Now I have another question. Can you get the tap tempo to match the ableton click track so that the arpegiator and note repeat are in sync with other sample? so I don't have to tap it in every time ?
Thanks in advance,
Jedwards

There are 2 ways of doing this. The obvious way would be to have the MPK send midi sync TO Live but that always fails. I seems to be a problem with a bunch of Akai stuff when used with Live.
The way I do it is to have Live send midi sync TO the MPK. This way the MPK's tempo LED stops blinking and the arpeggiator and beat repeat are always in sync.
WE had a discussion about his a while ago and at the bottom of this thread you can see that I figured out a setup that works for me.
http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=145888
Basically, I set the MPK's MIDI CLK to EXTERNAL and in Live I set
Sync On for "Output: MPK49 Output (Akai MPK49)"
NOW the arpeggiator and beat repeat will only work when a track is playing but at least it's all in sync.

Thanks I'll try that out this afternoon!
And sorry to be a pain but I have another question!
How do I assign transport controls? It doesn't seem to work the same way as assigning a know. Also when I assign one of the S1, S2... knobs, it only does what I assign every second time I press the button. Is there a way to overcome this?
Thanks in advance

You would have to change the S1, S2 MIDI messages from toggle to momentary in the MIDI editor for the MPD, if i'm not mistaken.

The transport controls on my MPK49 just work for me. As long as your MPK is set as a control surface and you're using a LIVE preset on the controller the Play. Stop, etc. just work.
