Do you have any James Brown records?

Sample them at 45rpm into live and start slicing up the breaks.Try to play just like the record as tight as possible, then start venturing off randomly.

Then just play with a square and sine wave with analog in Ableton.

step 5 - realize that dubstep is the current flavour of the month, the new 'black' and sell out to it, therefore skipping steps 1-3 but emphasizing step 4 - loadamoney, bosh, bosh, zoom, zoom, wallop - DOSH $$$$$

step 6 - post a new forum post 'Dubstep production. Where do I begin?' and have a bunch of smart arses patronize you ;)

yes, i could sell out. and yes i also like dubstep, but its too anxious and annoying for me. here in melbourne we need a stronger drum and bass scene, and even if it starts with me its still something :)

You're having a laugh right - prodigy drum and bass? Using the term Big Beat? Last time I heard anyone call music big beat was mid 90s. As said hit the dogsonacid grid - it's the place to be.

I'm Partial to a bit of Pendulum & Prodigy myself. Just curious what would you call the style of music they do. BreakBeat??

It's all just music, some of it's good, most of it's shite, I can't tell House from a nice little bungalow with a plastic pseudo victorian conservatory on the back, but it doesn't matter what it's called as long as you like it.

don't mention pendulum on dogsonacid, it won't go down well.
