don't know why more people aren't using the rmx1 as a controller/sequencing live with it, what a sequencer

luv the job he did on it, never did like that weird turqoisey color it came with
he was using only the rmx and that sampler under it, not bad especially compared to what crap comes out of full fledged computers these days, speaking of computers make an rmx1 or rs7000 the front end of a live set up and instantly find talents you didn't know you had

yeah, firing up old gear can be a kick in the muse. lots of RM1X youtubes out there, too many are pretty bad, can't find one that I'd want to hear more than once.
there's one on ebay for $260. no way I'm buying it, way too many other expenses in my life.

$260s not bad, I see them for $150 every now and then, it's amazing what computers are doing for making hardware affordable, it's gotten to the point where the first thing I do after a big software release is check out what hardware it's put in reach.

Having finally sold mine last year, I honestly can't imagine why anyone would want an RMX1. I'd rather have my wisdom teeth pulled without anaesthetic than spend another hour sat infront of it. It's a powerful sequencer, but it's cumbersome and unintuitive with a buggy operating system. The only thing it had going for it IMHO was the midi fx.

Sold mine for $50... Thought I would like to try out a hardware sequencer boy was I wrong then got a Machinedrum and it shit's all over it...

^ maybe but that's not a fair comparison, the rmx1 is older older than all of us.
still very unique, the rmx sequencer speak isn't for everyone but at the time it
came out it was quite ahead of the competition., I've had the rmx1 and rs7000 and
they served me well.
los angeles I would have given you $60

seriously, compare an RM1X with a machinedrum??
SS I give you a lot of crap but cosmo's being a hater.

haha I can take it, haters taste like krispy kream donuts to me but seriously the rm is the cheapest hardware solution for emulating numerology

RM1X was a really brialliant andd deep midi controller, the onboard synthesis is crap but one could make some quite good but too limited sounds with it.
in the MIDI sequencer department, the RM1X still beats ableton live and NI maschine. it's a FULLY IMPLEMENTED 16-MIDI-Tracks sequencer and editor, with all the midi filters and parameters you could dream of.
the editor is quite huge with 480 ticks per beat, and EVERY midi CC and nrpns can be inputted anywhere in those ticks...
I'm soon selling the Maschine to get a RS7000, since the RM1X (I still own mine) is too limited in comparison (110000 vs 250000 events, realtime switching between grid/step/edit modes, ability to change sections and mute/unmute simultaneously, etc etc.)
for hardware synths sequencing this is dope, and its rock solid. just put live as a slave for your softsynths and plugins, some multi-impulse racks, and done.
MIDI MASTER!!!!
cheers

Not sure what you've been smoking but like someone said it's "cumbersome and unintuitive with a buggy operating system" from my experience. It can have the most powerful features (which it doesn't) but it takes forever to do something that you can do effortlessly with Live or Maschine. RM1X/RS7000 may have "deep" features for its time but I found them more tedious and less fun to work with.

the sampling blows but the sequencer is dope nuff said, though selling maschine for one is just crazy talk

agreed. it has a learning curve, and mousing in a DAW is far much more easy and quick. I'm talking about midi sequencing, all the rest is obviously better in Live, but for MIDI edition and sequencing, no way you could get so deep with only Live, point
Not sure what you've been smoking
nothing interesting, sadly
like someone said "it's "cumbersome and unintuitive with a buggy operating system"
you didn't try it, did you? your quoting someone else. it's probably unintuitive when you never used any hardware groovemachine and come from the DAW department, but absolutely intelligent as a fully working and deep midi sequencer, again. I got the RM1X for years, and when you're used to its "philosophy", it IS intuitive.
cumbersome / unintuitive = just a subjective statement, as some people could say about digital performer when they only used live before trying this monster DAW...
selling maschine for one is just crazy talk
again, I'm talking about MIDI, guys.
MAschine is NOT a midi sequencer (yes, I should have thought about that point before purchase), and rm1x or rs7000 is 1000 times better than maschine when you come to sequence external synths, using lots of CCs, PCs, and even Sysex or nrpns...
I'm not saying rs7000 is better than live or maschine globally, Live is my favorite DAW / digital audio routing and FX console
anyway,
cheers

I did have the RM1X for years as well. Navigating into nested menus in tiny hardware displays is not my idea of fun or "intuitive".

That's like saying Maschine is 1000 times better than rm1x/rs7000 for banging on velocity sensitive pads, drag and drop to DAWs, and having unlimited access to all your sounds at once. Maschine is designed to work in the box and integrate with DAWs, not to support legacy hardware concepts.
