Ok i sold my apc40 a while back due to moving to dj in traktor now i am moving away for a year
and have slimmed down mysetup and picked up the launchpad,and really want to nail live.

with the apc40 there was a few good dj templates that made use of everything
but the apc had sliders.knobs etc...

so apart from just launching clips is there anything else i can do?
i do have a xone1d as well but looking to map stuff to user1 & 2
just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction of some threads/videos
or if anyone has any live 8 files i can use

well. user banks 1 and 2 can be assigned to whatever effects you like- for knobs just hold down the length of buttons you want to adjust on and then fine tune that in the midi mapping editor. launchpad can be configured to do whatever you like- but if you are just getting cracking with it I suggest running it in native mode and just experimenting. I tend to just assign whatever I want control of to the user banks and mix and trigger via pages 4 and 1 respectively.

It isn't as pre-configured as the APC, but it has a smaller footprint and can be terribly flexible. (I am also configuring it for managing/triggering cues in my lighting software for our fall tour- in that instance using the automap software to assist with easy mapping on the front end. )

With automap software's more customized mapping, it is very easy to configure the buttons to operate in momentary and latched modes.

I spent a while looking around for advice when I first got mine, but ultimately just kind of locked into playing with it and using it as a means of simplification- rather than complicating things too terribly much. There are tuts that show you how to configure in and output of data so that it does what dude was doing in the demo vid from last year- but that isn't an out of the box function- so if you are beating yourself up because you hadn't figured that out yet... well... you can stop
