hello ableton users am new to the game and i want to recreate hip hop by sampling jazz and funky breaks, i can slice to midi useing warp markers, but its the problems, after like looping the sample, which should be straight forward but not, maybe the begining dose,nt match the end of the sample, and do you sutain the key when, hitting the sample or just one touch, i always get one note samples that loop straight forward in the simpler its an art that i can not master without problems, how do you make a track useing samples, you got an loop maybe you add your own drums, but how do you get the groove to match the other samples and make up an entire track thats not so repetitive, in the session view, then you go over to the arrangement view, to arrange clips loops, its complex, how do you make drum and bass its hard its an art so get back to me on any of the subjects i have covered please could do with some help mister

I try to make some jazzy/funky hip-hop as well, when i do i normally edit all the loops/percussion as audio straight on the arrangement view, i find it way easier to cut them up and edit them like that. Then i make most of the loops really glitchy by duplicating and stretching them so i can add my own musical input into the track and also make it less repetitive.

hi pamplemousse thanks for that on ski beats but when i first started ski beats tutorial was my starting point, but he dose all that stuff in the session view, and i,ve heard that view is more for live peformance the arrangement view is more for editing your loops and drums and so on, theres so many ways on ableton at doing this recreating samples, am not sure what works best for me yet, kind of starting out, but if you know more get at me with an email on the forum or contact me straight on my landline 01753440086 i used to own 1200 turntables and tryed tearching myself to cut records didnt work out sold all the djing stuff, i owned a 505 drum machine and qx21 sequencer and still do, but now i have ableton live 8, which i have to crack on my own, or with help, the choice is yours aka black sheep peace out ableton users

You can try the MPC-style set up of the drum rack:

One important thing is the choke feature of the sampler (at 1'25" in the video). You can then reconstruct a sample with drum rack. And this works in session and arrangement view. A pad controler like the M-Audio Trigger Finger, an Akai MPD or LPD can help a lot.

pamplemousse thanks for the email, on the mpc style set up of drum rack to be honest i got that figured you see i know how to slice to midi am not great at it, useing the warp markers ,but i try, then you slice to midi, and it creates a drum rack with the slices ,kind of straight forward, its the looping and other stuff i find hard ,am not sure myself where am going wrong ,i have,nt the skills yet, like how to copy and paste in the arrangement view, and cut the sample into pieces, to make your recreation of a track, you get one loop if am lucky ,but how do you make a track with different loop parts, its not easy ,like any good soldier i need a drill sergeant ,someone to guide me, but if not , i will just try to learn myself, thats the thing these artist teach them self from there talent and cut out the middle man, well i got problems, i get tired very quickly trying work things out on ableton maybe one or two hours on it at atime then no more faith , i can not afford one piece of instrument at this time, you have my phone number i know things can be difficult you dont know me but am good anyhow any pointers would like to hear from you cool
