try this:
1: Go for a walk to the shops/make a coffee and realise you have a tune running through your head.
2: Check it's not by someone else
3: Make it, to the best of your ability
pretty simple
Instant tune
Re: Instant tune
I always forget so now I try and hum it into the recorder on my mobile phone.
Most people always have their phone on them at all times so no excuses.
It's good for sampling as well, capture that weird sound that your lift makes at work. As long as you treat it with effects the quality shouldn't matter.

Simply; if I have to force it, it's not happening. When I begin to feel like that, I go do something that has nothing to do with production (any life experience:) and by the time I come back to my computer it's not forced, it's organic and fun.
The only exception I make is when I have a Rmx deadline.
