True, but until you tried it, there is no way for knowing for sure which version works best for you. Obviously if there's a very bad version it would be helpful information to know to avoid it. But other than 8.1.3 which messed up MIDI Mappings, the latest beta's all seemed as good/bad as the next.
If there was such a thing as a definite stable version that works for everybody, this conversation would have just ended with somebody posting a version number followed by a bunch of "+1"s.
I totally get that to perform you want the most stable version possible. That is why I do all my work in beta's (if any). If something doesn't work I report it till it gets fixed and that worked 99% of the times for me so far. If an important project gets corrupted (only happened once so far), there's still a chance support can recover it from the broken .als file. As for weird crashes, if I encounter them before the next "stable" version gets out, there might be a chance it still gets fixed. And if not, then I actually know it isn't stable.
I suppose its just the way I see the process of Live developing. There are hundreds of ways to use Live. You can't realistically expect Ableton to be able to test all scenarios with all possible gear. And as for user experiences... I currently got a MFL device that morphs over 150 parameters on instruments at once and Live barely twitches. It definitely doesn't crash. Its an extreme user case since nobody would realistically slap LFO's on that many parameters. This is probably useless info for you, but that is my whole point. I can only tell you that it works for me. You are doing very different things that may not work for you depending on which Live version you're using or other factors.
Nobody really wants to be an unpaid beta tester. And Live should just be stable.
But if you just hope bugs go away, at least increase your chances by reporting it.
They aren't cranking these beta's out just for show.
