Apogee One VS. Mbox Micro for monitoring, not recording

i think i already know the answer but i figured i'd ask just in case......

i have an Mbox Micro interface that i use to monitor and mix my audio. I love the portability of it and the sound is OK. I know it has no inputs but that's not an issue here. I am concerned with sound quality when monitoring.

Would I see a big difference if i were to buy an Apogee One and use it instead of micro?

I know the Apogee AD converters probably smoke anything when it comes to the inputs but i'm not sure if there's a big difference if we stay in the digital domain and simply monitor.

Hope all that was not too roundabout, any advice appreciated.

haven't owned any digi/avid products so i can't speak to that. i have owned sound cards from m-audio, motu, emagic, echo, korg and probably some others i'm forgetting... the apogee ONE is the first one i plugged in and went "wow!", just from the playback quality. i was immediately in love and bought a duet for my desktop system. i a/b-ed it against the motu gear directly and still maintained this love affair. so it's fair to say that you may hear a similar jump up in quality going from the micro to the ONE.

now, that said, i have a/b-ed it against the echo audiofires and i find them quite quite close. you get more bang for your buck with the audiofire gear too, giving you i/o room to grow if you wish. just a thought...
