Exporting Midi Clips

Can anybody offer advice on the following, has me very confused

-when exporting a live set including both recorded tracks and midi clips, the midi clips seem to sound like they're missing certain effects that I've added to them. The recorded tracks with effects however are fine(sound identical to live set). I've tried using both the master and midi tracks themselves when exporting, but the result is the same (i.e. midi clips sound different).

Any help greatly appreciated, Barry.

Apologies,Perhaps not the clearest explanation!...........So, when exporting midi clips (i.e. turning them into aiff files) the exported files sound somewhat different to the midi clips inside Ableton (like some effects I've added are missing). I don't know if i can explain it any better. This problem is preventing from finishing a song. :x

Thanks in advance for any help guys,Barry.

Just to note, I'm using audio export, not midi export.

What's the process you use to "export" them? do you mean render to audio? Are you using sends on these channels?

I'm going to guess that you are using the "Export Audio/Video" under the File menu, if this is the case I'm going to also assume that you are selecting a track which is normally Midi. This should sound exactly as that rack does (with exception of the sends)... Remember the audio from the send doesn't get fed back into the original track, but rather it, by default, goes to the master channel. If you want to capture that track with it's sends you need to get it from the master track or setup a bus which contains the original audio and the audio from the return channels.

Try soloing the midi track and the sends then record the audio from the master. you can solo more than one track with the Command(mac)/Option(win) modifier.

good luck.

Hey Juan, managed to figure it out with your guidance....by opening the in/out section and routing the 'audio to' to a free audio track, I managed to record and export what I was after. Thanks a million for your help, greatly appreciated.

Niceone you figured it out.
For users reading this having the same problem and that solution doesn't work:
I also had a problem that live renders effects on inserts realtime during playbay,
but doesn't render the effect to a file. That seems to be a bug or compatibility problem
inside the effect-plugin.
Maybe this helps to someone ;)
