8.2 generating event log files by default (events.txt)

Howdy,

I wonder if somebody forgot to turn off event logging for 8.2? This on a mac, under
~/Library/Application Support/Ableton/Live Reports/Temp. Is this intentional or was this
as mistake? I'd rather not have every mouse move generate several lines of log file by default.

Yes, I would also want an answer to this, same confirmed in Win7-64 on PC. For me events.txt becomes 85MB large when I load a project, and I suspect it is a biggest bottleneck why it takes 40-60 seconds to load a project. What makes it even slower is that it gets very fast fragmented, it events.txt was in 700 pieces when I examined it with defraggler.

No, it is not a beta, Ableton Live 8.2.1. (not suite)

strange, that's what I'm running (on XP) and I don't have any events.txt

In fact a system-wide search for them only reveals one from an old beta version

Are you using VST plugins...? I suspect that it might start logging events only when I enable VST.

I'm new to Live and figured the startup times for my projects were normal - apparently not! My events.txt file for my current project is 285MB! Something is very clearly wrong, it takes about two minutes to load the project (which is far from big). Doesn't seem to be getting much attention though? Only affects some people it seems?

Ableton Live 8.2.2, Windows 7HP x64, 3GB Ram (Live runs in Admin mode).
And yes, I also use VST's.

Following on from above, I needed to run as Admin to take into account Miroslav Philharmonik CE, as it appears IK products and Ableton don't often play nicely, but I digress.

Dicking around with the Compatibility settings when running Live yields some interesting results. If I run Live using XP SP3 Compatibility Mode, no events.txt file appears to get created, and my project opens in 11 seconds, as opposed to the 1m52 it takes normally. Only downside is Ableton wants to get authorised again.

Just to check, again I went back to normal and an events.txt file is again created in a new "Live Run" directory - just 285MB.

Anad again to confirm, back into XP SP3 Compatibility Mode, no "Live Run" folder is created and no events.txt file is created, and the project loads in 11 seconds again.

It appears a solution, on Windows anyway, may be to run in XP SP3 Compatibility mode. So here's the question - is activating in XP SP3 mode going to burn through another Activation (I'm assuming "hell yes")?

To reiterate - Win 7 Home Premium x64, Live 8.2.2 (not suite), 3GB Ram.
