Really? APC20 accesses 125 scenes only?

And then you have to scroll old-fashioned style? And I've never heard this mentioned before?
This can't be.
This can't be.
What are you talking about ? That makes no sense and is untrue. The Novation launchpad allows access to 8x64 = 512 scenes.ShelLuser wrote:Impatient, impatient....
A control surface will only access that which your DAW allows you to see, simple as that.
Really? Are you sure about that? Everything I've seen shows that it has access to 64 scenes, but I don't know as I don't have one.nowtime wrote:What are you talking about ? The Launchpad's 'session overview' allows you to access 64 tracks x 64 scenes. You have to manually scroll after 64 scenes.AceLuby wrote:Really? Are you sure about that? That's perfectly right and the APC 20 works exactly the same.Akshara wrote:I don't know how it works with the APC-20, but with the APC-40 when one holds the Shift button to enter Session Overview, the Scene Launch buttons allow access to 125 scenes, without scrolling.
The APC-40 (and APC-20, thanks Dom) has an 8x5 Clip Launch grid, with 5 additional Scene Launch triggers on a vertical row to the right of the Clip Launch grid. When the Shift button is held, the unit goes into Session Overview mode, where each individual Clip Launch trigger represents one 8x5 grid, which allows for quick access to a bank of 64 tracks and 25 scenes across the entire grid. In this mode, each Scene Launch trigger jumps to the next or previous 64x25.ShelLuser wrote:How did you come by this number in the first place?

Beyond that, you have to scroll.
Cheers,
Dom
What's your plan after you dump it because as far as I know the APC series has the most direct access to scenes? Also, why do you need direct access to all of those scenes? Are you flipping through your set a lot? Couldn't you set your set up to be more linear and planned?nowtime wrote:dom wrote:That's perfectly right and the APC 20 works exactly the same.Akshara wrote:I don't know how it works with the APC-20, but with the APC-40 when one holds the Shift button to enter Session Overview, the Scene Launch buttons allow access to 125 scenes, without scrolling.

Would you agree this is a major fail, Dom? Am I the first person to consider this a limitation? Many of us Live users create "Performance Sets" which may include 10-20 songs, each with many scenes. This quickly uses up the 125 scenes and renders the APC20 useless.
Sorry for being grumpy, but I have to send this back.
If you are using 125 sceens for one set you are doing something very wrong... that is over 8000 clips...nowtime wrote:dom wrote:That's perfectly right and the APC 20 works exactly the same.Akshara wrote:I don't know how it works with the APC-20, but with the APC-40 when one holds the Shift button to enter Session Overview, the Scene Launch buttons allow access to 125 scenes, without scrolling.
