All the sudden my lowend distorts on everything.

A couple of days ago I opened a project I've been working on and as soon as I hit play I realized that the bass was distorting. I turned off all inserts and reduced the volume and it was still there. Tried several different bass sounds and each resulted in the same distorted/clipping noise. Turned my audio buffer from 256 to 512 and no change. Got the same noise through my monitors and phones. Assumed maybe my old mixer had gone out so I went to GC and bought a 802-vlz3. The distortion is still there. Opened up Cubase 5 and added the same vsti's to a project and checked my ASIO settings to make sure they mirrored Lives prefs. The problem does not occur in Cubase. Using Live 8.1. The distorting tracks produce a crackling sound at all volumes and seem to come on mostly in the lower registers from roughly 200hz down.
Running XPsp2 on a Q6600, 8gb ram, M-Audio Delta 1010.

You might already know this, but have you recently changed the warp mode, or changed the playback tempo on any of your bass parts? For warped bass parts you usually want to be using Tones, or one of the Complex modes. Beats mode used on bass parts can result in distortion-like artifacts.

No, this happens even if I load a bass patch and just play the sound. It doesn't affect a particular synth but seems to be related to a frequency range. I can load a bass patch from any soft synth in my library and the distortion occurs. Lead sounds and anything with an HPF on it doesn't result in the same clipping.
