Individual key MIDI velocity curves

Post by astar » Mon Dec 27, 2004 5:55 am

Hi, anyone know if there are any plugins out there that would allow me to set velocity curves for individual keys on my controller (not the entire keyboard)? I'd assume it's some sort of midi plugin. IT must be possible. Can energy xt do this? Reason is that a couple keys on my controller have inconsistent velocities so by setting an individual velocity curve for these keys I could make 'em a bit more playable

thanks!

The problem with ableton live 4 is that it doesn't accept third-party midi plugins. Many of us are hoping that that will change *soon* (I want the ERA stepsequencer!)

one workaround is to set up two midi input tracks with scale plugins on them. Have them feed the vstis or whatever.

Example: I want the D note on my keyboard to be velo 127 everytime.

Track 1: scale effect filtering out the D.
Track 2: scale effect filtering out everything BUT the D, followed by a velocity effect maxing out the velocity.

As with all workarounds, this method is a bit clumsy, esp. since we don't have "hide track" functionality in live - yet - but it does the trick.

If you're running OS X, you can use MIDIPipe.
