Problem with NanoKontrol

Hi all, I'm having trouble with my NanoKontrol (brand new today). My computer won't recognise it at all, I've installed latest Korg USB drivers and the NanoKontrol software from Korg's website. The light comes on but....guess the rest.
I know this isn't really a problem with Ableton as that won't pick it up until the computer stops messing around but if anyone has any advice I'd be most happy

You've checked it with midi ox to make sure it is sending a signal?

the man sez it's not recognized by the computer..
first see if it's present in controlpanel>hardware, if it is, launch the kontrol editor software , see if it connects, if not then try another usb-port

Maybe you have to register it with the korg midi driver setup utility

Computer picks it up but keeps telling me there's no drivers at all. I beg to differ.
Plugged it in all USB ports and doesn't work on any of them. Re-installed drivers from Korg website three times now, it's just not registering them at all.
I'm quite irritated with the computer

just to check - as far as I remember, once you've run the installer for the korg usb driver, you then need to find it in the start menu and run 'usb midi driver utility' (not the exact name, away from my music machine just now) to actually install the appropriate driver for your nanokontrol. apologies if you've already done this, but it's an easy one to miss!

On WinXP, try running EzSetup.exe in the directory Program Files\KORG USB-MIDI Driver\.

I really regret having bought the nano kit... my nano keys and nano pads are already broken after maybe using them 15 times. Its cheaper than a 10$ computer keyboard.
Not recommanded.

I've only used the nanoKontrol, and it is one of the best things I've bought in years. I use it every day as a controller for my software mixer, Brainspawn Forte. It takes up very little space, has ample MIDI controls, and saves me from either mousing a laptop or carrying a hardware mixer to gigs.
The construction is not great, I'll grant you that. But I've only had one go bad on me after it fell four feet onto a hard floor while in use.
When I first bought one it was the only mini-controller of its type. Now there are a couple others to choose from, so they may be better. But, for what it does, and its price, I'd recommend the nanoKontrol to anybody.

This.
The nanokey is crap, but the nanokontrol is really nice—I use two, wuth Myralfur's script.
Ataraxia, did you try to plug the nanokontrol with anpother USB cable? On another USB port? Is it connected to your computer through a USB hub?
