Cancel the wedding, buy the kit. It'll save you a fortune in the long run.

Pre-ordered this bad boy from DJtechtools.com. It's taking a bit of financial tightrope walking but as I've been whining about NI not coming out with a full function DJ mixer for Traktor for quite some time I'd be doing myself a great disservice if I wasn't among the first on the bus.

Also if you get it from DJ Tech Tools you get an hour long DVD by Ean Golden on setup and techniques that won't be available any other way.

Good luck on your wedding and marriage, but weddings are the most overinflated money flushers that even the government couldn't match that level of fiscal irresponsibility.

Lucky for me, she understands that.. and her parents are helping.
Found a place we like for the ceremony/reception that's well within our budget of under $20K and is all-inclusive (linens, cake, etc.) except for the photographer, DJ, invites and favors.

I can't speak for mashine but it doesn't take much of a pc to run traktor. I use mey old mackbook and their 4dj interface and can run with 1ms latency

I know there's a long running tradition of associated expense that people just accept for whatever reason but try to think of any other personal single day event that you think just under 20k would be considered a bargain that doesn't involve a celebrity appearance.

And of course all suppliers of services for weddings jack up the price, an accepted "special day" tax.

And as has been said many times use that same money for a down payment on a house, or car, or pay off bills, or put in savings, yada yada yada.

Just sayin'

This is sort of a good point also if she doesn't have any clue what he owns and he has a friend that will DJ on the cheap. I've DJed friend's weddings for a tiny fraction of what a professional wedding DJ would charge. Just tell her they're charging something on par with what an average wedding DJ would charge and use the difference to buy gear.

But that doesn't work with his DJ included package he has going on.

Well,

As a married man (whose wife sees my posts regularly), I'd go the honesty route. I've seen wedding DJ's charge well over $2500. Tell her its also an investment for your own music production. Reason with her on the foolishness on wasting that much money on a cheesy DJ, when you can sell what equipment you already have and buy the laptop and S4. Of course, that wount' justify the Moog... Unless you explain that it's an audio processor. Filters out unwanted frequencies....
