I thought Live could need the feature to group notes.
As you can see on the image I made below, the group can be given a specified color (thought that makes sense to keep the overview and identify groups faster)



Also I think it would be useful to be able to expand grouped note patterns
There would be an extra bar below the timeline if grouping is done on which you can directly drag the amount of time the pattern applies to.

I guess the reason for this feature is quite obvious: You can really save time and can organize your composition much better.
The range of possibilities to extend this feature are huge so I thought I just throw out the idea first and look how your response is before I post tons of settings I think are useful for this feature (maybe I'll do that later and improve my previous sketch by implementing more things into the interface).

Nice idea about the coloring. I imagine one would multiselect a bunch of notes, then right click to bring up the context menu and color options. Basically the same behavior as track coloring.

The extra bar below the time line is interesting as well. Do you mean that after you select a group, you can expand the notes by a percent, via one slider?

Basically thats the idea yeah. Similar to adjusting the loop range. Also doing this by using values would make sense.
Its somehow the same concept like you can find in Adobe Flash where you can define a socalled Symbol out of an object and place that symbol as often as you want with different attributes.
If you then want to change all that elements that got the Symbol placed in it you just go over to the Symbol, change it, and every linked element gets that changes too. (hope someone actually understood that )

I think it could be a real timesaver in everyones composing workflow, because you dont have to edit several midi-clips for instance, but only one and you are way more flexible while playing around with arrangements.

Ah, I see. That would be really cool. Reminds me of the "Designer" concept in Adobe Framemaker. But anyway...
