Ableton Forum

After several trips to maplins electronics and stress of cables etc. i nearly have my setup complete

It consists of:

EFX500,
APC40
DJM800
Mac pro
M Audio 410
Ableton 8

Problem is is that the way i have my audio wired up at the moment is Mac > M audio > outputs on M Audio > channels 1,3 & 4 on my DJM800. Then i have master from my DJM800 going into my input on EFX500,

I had the output of the EFX500 into the input on my soundcard, and then an output from my soundcard to my speakers, the problem is is what i selected the coressponding outputs as my master on ableton, nothing was happening.

So i unconnected the output on the EFX500 going into the input on my M Audio, and recplaced it to be plugged direct into the speakers and this works, i am able to hear the effects from ableton, my efx, and my djm through my monitors. Problem is is that i have nothing plugged into the input on my M audio now.. Is this correct? Or am i completely missing something here?

While this is set up at the moment im getting sound tracks skipping but everything i have bought is brand new has anybody else had this issue?

Try running your EFX unit through the send and return on the mixer.

its should go:

mac>soundcard>DJM(efx 500 in DJM effects loop)>DJM outs to monitors

the efx 500 is kind of a piece of shit, and the efx on your 800 are gonna be alot better, i would just sell the efx 500 if i were you. there will be a noticable decrease in sound quality if you run your master through the efx 500. its not really the right way to use it either.
