Hey guys, totally new to ableton, but I wanted to know if there is anything ableton offers that can create this effect (click the link)

If there is, YES (tutorial?)

I'm specifically talking about sound example no. 3 (montana next level)

http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/ ... &page=1877

Thanks in advance,
Tyler

haha thanks for the replies. I'm assuming there's not one, I'm just trying to take 2-4 bar sampled drum breaks and make them a lot more interesting. So far i've discovered Beat Repeat, which is kinda cool, i'm looking for some like granular stretching.

If you click on the link, and check out the 3rd audio example, named Montana next level, there's a ton of energy in it. I'm just trying to find something OTHER than Traktor's 12 to do it, hoping that it's in Ableton. Maybe there's a way to do it manually? You guys have any ideas? What do you do?

Thanks in advance,
Tyler

try supatrigga, livecut, instajungle (all are external plug-ins).

If you're on PC, DB Blue Glitch will replicate similar effects. If you're on Mac Sugar Bytes Artillery II and Effectrix. Or, in Live, a combination of Beat Repeats, Simple Delays (automated), Filters/Flangers and sidechained Gates could do it (best to bundle them all up in a rack and macro the chain selector to skip between them). Cheers!

isn't traktors 12 a vst/au.. so why not just use that inside of live?

i'm sure using the effects that actually created the example would be best, no?

You can also create granular effects on sounds or loops using the "Texture" algorithm when warping.

hey guys, thanks again for all the replies. I will try out the texture algorithm, thanks for the advice. I guess I was just under the assumption that Ableton had something like this built in, oh well. I guess I'm gonna try out some of your techniques, and I'll get back to y'all. Thanks again,

You might try racking up effects - for example, put four Beat Repeats in a chain (or parallel using an Audio Effect Rack), each with different settings, and trigger them in succession. Season with other effects to taste.

If you have Reaktor you need to check out Twisted Tools stuff. Vortex and Buffeater, really cool beat mashing, granular stretching.
