Still new at this, but me Ableton don't seem to be actin' quite like it should. Read on...

Trying to warp a song. Set initial main marker > right click > set as 1.1.1

All going well.

However, when I them try to move transients to correct small timing issues, when I click them, Ableton is HUGELY expanding the timing board (don't know what this is called- the bit that the waveform is essentially 'nailed' to) meaning that my waveform, instead of occupying the whole board, is now a timy fraction of it, and I'm 56 hours past it.

V Frustrating. Anyone help?

It seems to be changing the BPM from 128 to 5.

It sounds like you're having some difficulty with Warping. Have you read the sections in the manual about Warping? Note that Warping has been changed significantly with Live 8, so make sure you're up to date on your techniques.

Live 8 is the first version I've used, so it's the only method I know. As far as I can see, I am following the manual to the letter.

All I am trying to do is left click and drag a transient so that a beat aligned perfectly with one of the major numbers on the grid.

Doing this causes the problem I outlined above (BPM = 5, therefore higely distorted song and timeline). Is this something you have heard of before?

I have only had the software for a short time, but have managed to warp song succesfully before.

Any and all help appreciated.

Hi all.

If anyone has seen this before, and could offer a potential solution, it would be much appreciated.

Have not had this problem before, and have tried to configure files in all different ways I can think of: external HD through USB hub / external HD through main USB port / files moved on to local HD. Always the same problem.

Using 8.0.4, and this feels like a bug.

Hi Paul, when you click to a different warp marker in the same clip, do you see the same BPM? Perhaps you need to work with a few more Warp markers - for some clips, you'll need to warp more precisely to get everything in time. Keep in mind that moving a warp marker will stretch or compress the audio, and the BPM will be changed accordingly. You might try warping every 4 or 8 bars, just to start with.

Also, in the mean time, you should also update to the latest version of Live 8, Live 8.2.1. It's a free download here: http://www.ableton.com/latest-versions
