Problems using Novation Launchpad when Live is rewire slave

Hi everyone,
I recently got hold of a Novation Launchpad, which works fine when I'm running Live (version 8.1.1) on it's own. However, my normal set-up is to run Live through Logic Pro (version 9.1.2) as a rewire slave - when I do this the Launchpad works in completely different way, functioning as a normal MIDI pad controller that can trigger notes on instruments in both Logic and Live; none of its LEDs light up and it loses it's unique Live functionality, i.e. being able to use the session view/mixer etc. on the Launchpad. I think this is probably happening because Logic is starting up first and reading it as a "standard" MIDI controller, which for whatever reason isn't being over-ridden by Live when that starts up. But I'm at a bit of a loss how to resolve this!
So I guess the basic question is...can the Launchpad be used normally with Live (i.e. the session view/mixer etc. functions) when Live is running as a rewire slave (in this case to Logic)? If so, can anyone shed any light on how to make it do that? Any insight would be much appreciated!
Thanks very much in advance,
Cheers,
Alex
