launchpad user 1 and 2 mode

Hi has anyone had problems with the launchpad user 1 and 2 mode i have eight auto filters on each channel on the launchpad for dj,ing but each row of buttons controls the eight filters in ableton at the same time and not one at a time anyone had similar problems?

How have you mapped the buttons to control the filters - are you using them to turn the filters on and off, or for other parameters?

Hi David thanks for the reply i have a row of buttons mapped to the frequency filter on each channel so eight rows to eight frequency filters

Where are you having difficulty with the filters exactly? Are the buttons not mapping properly?
Also, check out the Launchpad menu to see where the MIDI controls default on the controller - you might be running into issues trying to map the controls to a full row.

Hi David thanks for getting back to me on a Sunday i think each row of buttons are over lapping when i fade in a row mapped to the frequency filter on any channel it controls the whole eight filters on eight channels at the same time the midi numbers on the first frequency filter are C1-E3 and on the second filter C#-F3 and D1-F#3 on the third filter which to me looks like they are over lapping and it's starting to get frustrating

Yes, it sounds like the overlap is due to you trying to use a full row of buttons for MIDI control of one parameter - there's a division on the Launchpad halfway through the rows. Try using the Launchpad in User Mode 1 as a note input device on an instrument track to see how this works. You'll want to pay close attention to which ranges of notes are mapped to which controls under the MIDI mapping panel.

Hi David in user mode the launchpad is split into two half's the notes in user 1 play horizontally from bottom left four notes across then up to the next row until it reaches the top then goes back to the bottom last 4 notes then plays upward on the second half of the launchpad hope you understand this and is it meant to do this?

Yes, this is what I was talking about - so, you'll want to change your mappings. If, for example, you want to map is to that there are eight buttons to control one parameter, you'll want to map that as two 4-column rows, rather than one 8-column row. Does this make sense?

Does this mean i will only be able to control 2 filters as i wanted one on each eight channels?

No, you can control as many as you want - you just have to organize it so that there isn't note overlap between different controls.
So, for example, if you still want to map the cutoff of 8 filters across all 64 buttons, where you had previously don it this way (numbers represent filters):
1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1
2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2
3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3
4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4
5-5-5-5-5-5-5-5
6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6
7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7

You would now map it like this, to prevent overlap:
1-1-1-1-5-5-5-5
