Hiya

I downloaded legacy pack and it has lots of midi clips.

Are there no new clips with Live 8 (free). Is the partner instrument compilation this kind of thing ( midi clips etc)?

Also I noticed there are some downloads like Drum machines. What are these?

Hi - yes, there are new clips in Live 8. As you can see on the page for it, the Partner Instrument compilation includes, among other things, 85 Live Clips: http://www.ableton.com/partner-instrument-compilation

Drum Machines is a sampled instrument available for individual purchase, or as part of Suite 8. It includes samples of classic Drum Machines, organized individually, and as kits (with some interesting variations) for Drum Racks.

Am not finding any clips within Live 8.

Are you saying there are clips already in Live 8, before I install the compilation? Or are you saying I have to install the compilation to get the clips?

Also the drum machine add on is free to download and install, or so it seems. But am not finding any added functionality. Is this because I have not purchased it? I dont understand why it appears to install if its not free.

Hi, Drum Machines is available for separate purchase, but it also comes as part of the boxed or download versions of Suite 8. If you don't have Suite, then you'll need to buy Drum Machines separately.

Am still wondering where all the clips are hidden in Live 8.

Look in the "Clips" folder, under the Live Library. Or are you looking for audio files?

I am looking for the stuff thats like the legacy stuff under clips. The .alc files.

There does not seem to be anything like that in live 8

So you're not seeing any clips in your Live Library?

I have clips folder with some drum stuff in. The legacy folder (which has lots of clips), and thats about it. Oh and some partner instruments folder.

Yes - it looks like you have all the clips in the Live Library.

Ok.

So there are no key or synth clips like the legacy stuff then i take it.
Just drum kits
