Cycle record MIDI in Arrange view..

Chris Cowie mentioned a while back that it is very confusing and doesn't really perform as it does in other sequencers - I've only just seen his comments and was hoping to migrate from Logic completely but this really puts a spanner in the works as I have just discovered myself how awful it is. (I've been concentrating on midi in the session view up till now).
There seems to be a conflict of interests between the 'unravelling' record feature which is very useful for audio where adding material to that previously recorded is not an issue and the need to add MIDI without adding new clips which is, surely just being able to turn that off would solve it?
As Chris said, no one will migrate without this, in fact I might have to use Logic more, as Rewiring for Logic's Midi capabilities would be a nonsense.
thx
