Ableton Forum

Hi,

I downloaded the demo of Ableton 4 and ran the set up program but when I try to run the program my computer grinds to a halt. This happens at the point when it creates a new set.

It goes so slow I can't even move the mouse!
Both times I've tried I've had to turn off the computer using the power button.

Anyone know what might cause this or what I could do about it? I've tried it out on a friend's machine and am very keen on getting it, but if the demo won't work I guess the full version wont...

I'm using windows XP pro and I think I've installed all the updates.

Has no-one got any ideas?

Ableton 2 worked on my machine, I seem to recall trying Ableton 3 and it not working.

whats ur machine spec ?
also when was the last time you did a clean install.. it seems very strange, are other programs working ok ? have u tried other hosts as well such as fruity loops

I don't know why, but that folder doesn't exist on my machine. I also searched my hard drive for ableton and for log.txt but couldn't find it.

Could this be caused by my soundcard? I'm not sure what my soundcard is (it may be SiS 7012 - if that is a soundcard!), but Ableton 2 worked, as do frootyloops and ACiD 4.

I have a 1.8Ghz processor and 512Mb of Ram.

Can no-one help me?

Is it caused by my audio card?
