My "Essential Instrument Collection 2" has disappeared.

I'm running Ableton Live Suite 8.2.1 on a MacBook Pro. I just realized that somehow over the last update or two of Live that my EIC2 has disappeared from the browser, making the sounds unavailable. What do I do? I've already repaired the library several times and also reinstalled the 8.2.1 update with no success? Should I reinstall from the original disks? Anybody else with this problem? Please help.
Thanks.
Mike

Hi Peter!
Thanks for responding so quickly. No, the list in the Library under Preferences does not show any EIC2 files, and "Choral Voice" does not show up under Instrument Rack, although "Guitars and Plucked" does. The folders in my Instrument Rack list are:
Ambient and Evolving
Guitars and Plucked
Live 7 Legacy
Mallets
Partner Instruments
Piano and Keys
Special-FX
String Bass
Synth Bass
Synth Bleep
Synth Brass
Synth Chord
Synth Lead
Synth Pad
Synth Rhythmic
Synth Strings
Synth Percussion
Synthetic Voice
Synthetic Voice
Synthetic Winds
Also, when I click on "Instruments" in the Help Window under "Essential Instrument Collection", the browser searches for a while and then comes up empty. It's really puzzling. Any ideas?
Thanks so much.
Mike

Hi Mike, have you recently changed computers? Remember that EIC2 has to be installed from the DVD that comes in the box - it doesn't come as part of the downloadable updates.

Hi David!
Yes, I changed to a new MacBook Pro (from an older MacBook) in the spring sometime, but I think I installed Ableton Live Suite from its disk rather than from Apple's Time Machine (just to get a fresh start). Is it possible to install the EIC2 without installing a much older version of Live?
Thanks.
Mike

Yes - EIC2 comes on a separate DVD. Ableton Suite 8 (boxed) comes with four DVDs - 1 for Suite 8, 1 for EIC2, and 2 for Session Drums. If you want EIC2 on your new machine, then you'll need to first install it from the separate DVD. Live will then automatically get available updates for EIC2. Installing from the DVD will not do anything to your current Live install.

Hi David!
I'll give that a try. Maybe I didn't install Live from disk in the first place. Strange that I never noticed that the EIC2 were missing.
Anyway, thank you so much for your help, David (and Peter). I'm confident that your advice will solve my problem.
Thanks again,
Mike

Hi I am experiencing a similar problem with my instruments. When I am in my library and I try bring up my list of instruments, I click on "Intruments" folder and then either drum rack/external instrument/ impulse/instrument rack etc. When I try to bring up one of these folders , instead of the usual list of all instruments there is only one folder which says "Current project temp-5". This is all that shows up for all my instrument folders, including 'Audio Effects' and 'MIDI effects'.
I reinstalled the latest version of live and the problem persists. I am concerned I lost all of my instruments but I hope this is not the case, someone please help for I am unable to create any of my songs
Best Regards
Jake R.

Hi, check to make sure you have your Library pathed correctly in Live. Under Preferences->Library, see where Live is looking for the Library. Then, check to make sure that the Library is there. If it's in another location, then you'll need put in that folder path.
