so, i just grabbed a loop and messed with it on battery. I put it on sp-1200 hi, lo, and mid modes and i still don't hear the difference. I even put it on mpc 60 mode and nothing. What else am i missing? i am using a drum loop if that helps.

you need to pitch the sample down a cent or two....
