Has anyone used this synth before? My musical heroes, EOTO, use this to generate their bass sounds, so I was thinking about picking one up. Opinions?

Fuck it. Go for it. Or you could hit that button on the top right of the screen & find a pretty good dose of info from some previous threads.

EOTO uses a GAIA?
as far as I could tell it's Reason, a nord and some KORG synth

had a brief spin in the keyboard store and the presets sounded pretty thin, but its very tweakable in a logical way, I just did not have enough time to get in to it.

Trentemoeller got one (does he use it?), SonicState.com says Gaias oscillators sound thin.

well it's a typical Roland DSP product: like a lame vst plug-in in a plastic box.
and the price does not justify the "dedicated controller" aspect IMO.

No GAIA for EOTO. Just a Nord, Juno, Reason, and a Korg MS 2000

This coming Friday and Saturday will be my 9th and 10th EOTO shows, lately I've been getting really into intently watching Travis and trying to figure out what he's up to.

Good for EOTO or whomever wats to sue it; a previous poster said it is essentially a VSTi in a plastic $150 midi keyboard controller. Thats basically all Roland does anymore. They make their big money in the worship industry so you can save yourself the time and stop paying attention to what they are doing.
The last decent synth they released was the SH-32 about 12 years ago. After that they stopped trying.

IMO their last decent synth was the juno 106 in 1984.
although the d-50 is kinda cool for that star trek TNG intro pad.
