Just a small heads up that the erronous "cannot locate plugins" outlined in a previous thread (http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=146568) are still occurring in 8.2.2b1...

I cannot seem to isolate a set of circumstances which makes this bug 100% reproducible, but it definitely seems to show up mostly when a project which was saved with an older version is opened in a newer version... for example:

1) Consider "project.als" - a hypothetical project which was last saved in 8.2
2) Open "project.als" in 8.2.1 - this bug shows up
3) Save as "project_2.als" in 8.2.1 - the bug no longer shows up when "project_2.als" is opened in 8.2.1
4) Open "project_2.als" in 8.2.2b1 - this bug shows up again
5) Save as "project_3.als" in 8.2.2b1 - the bug no longer shows up when "project_3.als" is opened in 8.2.2b1
6) Repeat.........

strange, now i have that bug, too.

using mac os x 10.6.5, live 8.2.1

edit: ok, sorry, i'm using 8.2.1, not the new beta...

It seems this bug is now becoming problematic... it never used to cause actual crashes when it occurred previously, but it definitely is...

Whenever I open a project and this buggy behaviour is displayed, Live seems to have issues accessing the file system... whenever you perform a function that requires opening or interacting with a file at a particular location (e.g. save project, load project, saving presets, etc. etc., anything that involves a file system dialogue box), Live completely freezes up and OS X gets stuck on the spinning beachball of death...

The spinning beachball freezes definitely happen whenever a project has displayed this buggy behaviour when it was opened.

I had gone back to using 8.2.1 after experiencing other buggy behaviour with 8.2.2b1, so the freeze/beachball is definitely present in 8.2.1, but from memory the same thing was happening in 8.2.2b1 as well

P.S.: I've already spent some time to investigate this issue. Until now, unfortunately to no avail. So, it would be helpful to have some more data.

I've been getting this as well and in my experience, live's not seeing the audio unit plugins. i go into preferences and toggle "Use Audio Units" and then it works again.

Happening here as well.

is anyone experiencing this problem on Windows, too?

From the data I received so far it seems to be a Mac-only problem and probably Snow Leopard, only.

Unfortunately, I still wasn't able to reproduce this problem on our test machines.

I'm still searching for the missing link. Most probably all machines showing this problem have something in common that isn't present on our test machines. For this reason it would be great if you could send me the System Profiler information of your machine:

- click the apple symbol in the upper left corner
- click "About This Mac"
- click "More Info..."
- in the menu bar of the System Profiler open the "File" menu and click "Save As..."
