no sound from impulse?

ok, i'm using the tutorials for live 4.04, specifically Lesson 4: Creating Drum Patterns with Live, and I am not getting any sound from Impulse. All the proper MIDI lights are firing, but no audio is being sent out. I'm using the proper octave and using my computer keyboard as the controller, and it has been selected in the preferences. I have been able to write and play midi sequences in Impulse, but no sound! any ideas?

i guess i have to load samples into simpler for it to make any sounds, huh? that was the problem that i have now sheepishly discovered

Yeah. I've heard a wild rumours that samplers need samples to make sounds! But better late than never...
