I have on my Ti PBook 667MHZ,512RAM.How huch more RAM can i have?
With out having any problems.Cos some one said if i have more than..i dont know, the computer runs slower.Is this true?If not,can i have 1Ghz RAM?I want to have the best performance for music with Live4.

max ram for your PBook is 1GB
that is 2 sticks of 512MB each

that machine uses PC-133 ram, runs about 100-120 Euro for a 512MB stick.

Live wont run faster, as in your CPU% will stay the same. But OSX allocates ram very well and uses as much as it can. Therefore ram dependent operations will be faster (start up, launch multiple apps, work within multiple apps, etc.) In the end, the regular tasks of the computer feel "snappier".

the opposite is true. If you do not have enough memory your applications including Live suddenly slow down, you get dropouts and all sorts of nasty things. I would recommend using at least 768 MByte or 1 GByte. VSTi plugins may also eat additional memory. If you want to use more then one application at the same time, say Reason via ReWire into Live, both applications need memory, and in order to run them all fine you will need more memory and so on. So, if you can afford it, put a lot of it into your computer.

You mean i can go for 1GHZ RAM?I think is also good with Live cos i can load loops ,samples on RAM so,i dont overload the HD.Right?

no, not 1GHZ
GHZ is a measure meant of speed, as in a processor is 1GHZ, yours is .667GHZ , aka 667MHZ.

GB is a mesaure of Size. 512MB ram is .5 GB doubling that would give you 1GB of RAM
so i mean 1GB of RAM, not GHZ

and ya its great to load your samples into RAM because its less disk activity, which means less audio drops. I load all of my samples into RAM when producing, and about half of them when performing.

Yes, you can play samples / loops from RAM and this in some cases leads to a better performance, especially if you have lots of short loops and a slow harddisk.

Last think what about prices we are talking about.Lets say 512MB.In EUROS.

as i mentioned before.. about 100 to 120 Euros for 512MB of PC-133 So-Dimm

but you have to care about one thing, you have 512 MB ram good, but in how many slots? is it 1*512 or 2*256, in that case if you'll have to get rid or your ram to buy 2*512 because you just have 2 slots for ram.

I have two slots 256X2=512

i have made the upgrade from 512 mb to 1024 mb last week.
i also had to take out the 2x256 memory bars but the result worths the price. live is from far more stable now, even with a 450 scenes set and some plugins.

I have orderd a 512MB Ram i will have it next week.
I will test it,if it goes good i may order another one 512MB
