Saving collapses the undo history into the saved file. Most applications do this. Why did you save something you didn't want to save?

while this is true as it is true that no daw can sync properly to a midi clock... it would be actually good if things would just be better than the mean standard.
i can see a few practical applikations for being able to undo after a safe..for example you can have multiple arrange realtime runoff recordings.. on your second path you might have overwritten the previous one with the perfect ending... now you have a great new version that builds up perfectly but a lousy end..
what to do? safe or undo? booth would be actually nice..you can puzzle the two versions than together later but dont loose any material.
as nice it is to be able to do theese realtime runoffs .. so sad it is that you cant really jump in on exsiting one when you havent safed it before..
ok..the nerd routine..allways safe after something has been achived..allways press record before you achive something..
you cant blame the program when it is not fail proove for unorganzied chaotic freaks.
just say no and carefully plan you next steps in live.
however.. i would enjoy undo after a safe and automatic recording status as soon you change a thing.
that would be a fantastic improovement to catch the spontanious little moves here and there that are usually the best..
such things would be great preference options.. adjust the programs behaviour to the personality of the user..
it´s a musical instrument, not a spread sheet calculation....or?

Im whining about this for years ...
unfortunately no one gives a shit and no one seems to understand the importance to be able to undo after save UNLESS he first lose his work or something
not being able to undo after save is so STUPID, DANGEROUS and so work-flow UNFRIENDLY!
you must have ALWAYS in your mind to dont accidentally hit ctrl+s (The same time everyone is saying SAVE SAVE SAVE! always save your work in case of a program/system crash, a power failure or anything.) and to always make new .als for testing new things.

Mhh from my understanding an undo after a safe would delete your safed file, if that is implemented.

the mindset of software developers and musicans is very different in such details..musicans really tend to do it first and think about ot afterwards..software developers do it just the oposite way..
therefore allmost any music software is a bit flawed in the musical interaction..
One just wonders why hardware manufactors get it usually so much better done.. in the end dsp programming is programming too..
but its maybe that they have more practical musicans as betatesters that influence such functional descission on an early stage allready..
