Midi mapping overlap

Hi, I have a problem when using two midi controllers with ableton live. I use the MPD32 and the Xiosynth49.
When I map a pad to an audio clip lets say C1 on my MPD, whenever i push middle C on the xiosynth49, it plays the audio clip i had mapped with the mpd. I know you can change the midi channels to 1-16a or 1-16b on the MPD, however, it will just mean that the map overlaps with the synth on a different octave. When i go into midi map mode, I see on the left the category is the midi channel. I found out how to change the midi channel on the xiosynth and the problem was solved. The problem is is that I want to do this using a different keyboard that doesn't allow me to transmit the midi to a different channel.
Is there a way for me to change the midi channel being used for the MPD (i am not talking about changing the common channel to something else, this does not solve the problem) so I don't have synth keys playing what I have mapped to the mpd.
I also know you can turn the remote function off of the synth, however I don't want to do this. I still want to be able to map midi functions on the keyboard, just not overlap them with the mpd.
can anyone help?
