Just what it says on the tin. I'm a DJ, only having just started 5 months ago. I am needing an easy-to-use, budget-conscious 4-out audio interface for me to cue songs with my headphones. I am using Live Intro 8.2, and have the Launchpad as my controller.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Gigaport HD by ESI. Output only though. No recording. So if you have an external mixer use the record out of that.

The 'ins and outs' equivalent of the Gigaport USB thingy would be the Maya 44 USB.

Looks very similar, but instead of having 8 outs, it has 4 in + 4 out.

NI interfaces get high marks, and while I wouldn't recommend an RME interface for a beginner if you don't have money to burn, I also wouldn't skimp and just get the cheapest interface possible. Get something quality and with some room to grow.

Focusrite Saffire 6 Usb is perfect for DJing and a little bit of mobile recording.

are you using mac or pc? laptop or Desktop? Is the launch pad your only controller? how are you trying to mix your song? are you are trying to run 2 outs into an analog mixer or just 1 out and using the second for que mix?

I am using a PC, a brand-new 15" Dell Inspiron laptop.

The Launchpad is, as yet, my only controller--but I really like it a lot.

OMG, asdjdkkgjgjgfkdll, I have no clue what PCMCIA or expresscard slot means. I'm a girl. LOL

In mixing songs, if it seems ill-advised or impossible to begin layering the beats of the next song into the outro beats of the previous track, I need to know when to cut a beat and then boom! drop the next track. I can't do this without headphones--the counter that is provided on Session View isn't that much of a help. Well, that is, unless I document on a piece of paper the precise times I need to begin mixing. God. Does that make any sense at all? I just read that back and ZOMG.

And I co-sign wholeheartedly on what BeatsMe wrote. I don't have money to burn, but I also want to invest in something that I can use for a while and not outgrow yet.

what stlyes of music do you dj?
I would say the audio 2 dj from NI its $99, you can use 1 out to plug into any mixer or whatever you have at home, the other for headphones.

If you have no external mixer than you must not do a lot of blending or eqing just dropping samples and tracks 1 after the other.

Live isnt really ment for djing there are some better options.

On the contrary--Live is excellent for DJing. Ask Deadmau5. I actually was referred to it as a beginner because of its budget-friendly price and that I didn't have to go and get a CDJ or Technics turntables. I'm a serious hobbyist, but I'm just starting out.

I use the Launchpad as my mixer, as it has a mixer mode on it. At times I drop one track after another, but most of the time beats are layered on top of each other as I fade out from one song as I fade into another.

I primarily DJ house, some electro, dubstep, drum-n-bass, grime and bashment.

The Audio 2 sounds like the plan...and a fantastic price!

PS--Yes, I also use a lot of effects in the music I play such as the EQ Three, Ping Pong, Flanger, etc.

NI interfaces kick butt, but i was recently looking into the yamaha audiogram 3, same price point, with a mic for recording, why not get more for the same price?
