Surgeon's sound card?

A friend was telling me Surgeon did a ton of research to find which card sounded best w/Ableton, and that he had found a very high out put one, and runs Ableton's outs at a lower volume. When I've heard Surgeon live his kicks are just devastating, and my buddy said this was why. But, dammit, he couldn't remember which one it was, and i don't see any references to it online. Anybody?

thanks.

it's all about the kicks themselves and proper mixing

Ask Surgeon, he'll either tell you or not... what's to lose? Break down the fourth wall.Or study photos like a stalker.

I believe that proper mixing might be more important than the selection of the soundcard. Obviously you will have better sound if you don't already distort within ableton. But that Surgeon's kicks are devastating will be determined by the way he mixes, e.g. having the kicks way louder than the rest, balance them with eq and sidechaining etc.
