Recording Midi Changes From Maschine.

OK... I know this topic has been spoken about allot on both this forum and on the Native Instruments Forum. BUT...
I still don't think it gets answered properly. It usually gets taken off in a different direction. Understandable.
My problem is. I love Ableton, and want to keep working in the Ableton environment. APC40 etc. I have also been using the Maschine for quite some time now aswel. I am still yet to fall in love with it though. It seems like a very commercially pushed product that is very dance/hiphop bassed. Were I am more on the experimental minimal beats side of things. Anyways.... I do use Maschine for some beat production amongst other things. With 1.5 I used to drag and drop clips into Ableton or Export Audio from Maschine into Ableton and then have to correct the sample a little to suit my project in Ableton.
My question is, like so many others. In Maschine 1.6 is there any way possible to just have maschine as a vst on a midi track in Ableton and then send it to an audio track so i can record the scene/pattern changes I will make in Maschine. Because at the moment when I try this, it only records the scene that was last activated in maschine. I have heard many different responses and work arounds to this issue. But surely there has to be a way to send audio from a midi vst device. Seeming it is actually producing sound itself. So where in the Ableton environment can I capture that sound. Or do I completely mis-understand the science behind midi?
I am currently running Live 8 suite (APC40) on a Macbook Pro with Maschine 1.6 as a Plug In. And I would love to keep it this way. But desperately need to find a way to record my Improvised sessions. Then edit them later in Live.
I am sorry if I have mis-understood any of the previous posts or theories on this matter. But I desperately need to get this to work.
IS IT POSSIBLE???
Thanks in advance for any advice.
