Using Ableton Exclusively
Using Ableton Exclusively
I was curious to know is anyone using Ableton exclusively in their setups i.e. Ableton on its own. I recently picked up the suite version and it appears that alot can be achieved.
Re: Using Ableton Exclusively
I use Live Suite and a handful of 3d party plug-ins exclusively. I do everything from writing to arranging, mixing, live performance, etc. using it.

I use Live exclusively as well. I recently got the Izotope Mastering Plugin and I am good to go from start to finish on projects. Now if it only had a built-in MP3 Converter.
Re: Using Ableton Exclusively
I don;t all of the time, but I've written many songs using nothing but Live.

I own about 5 or 6 choice plugins, but other than that, it's mostly all Live for me...
I do own other gear but I use live almost exclusively

Re: Using Ableton Exclusively
I sometimes do whole projects using Live, and sometimes using mostly Live's FX (I have L7 Suite) but it is not typical behaviour for me.
Using just Live and it's inbuilt plugins is a bit too restrictive for certain projects both in functionality and plugin quality, so I often finish in a different DAW.
Not dissing Live though - exceptional software for composing and arranging and for live performance and having fun jamming to grooves etc, it just lacks a bit of a polish in some areas, but areas which can give extra quality and save time on some productions. Lack of bezier curves (and audio editing in general), sysex, multichannel audio and pitch correction being some obvious examples. If you work with a lot of vocalists and instrumentalists, take handling/comping is also a weakness. If on the other hand you use mainly virtual instruments and loops/samples as many electronic DJ orientated types do, you don't miss some of those advanced features.
We'll see what Live 9 brings to the table soon enough though - this could raise the stakes again if they get it right !

Live 8 Suite and some plugins (GR4 - much better than AMP, Ozone 4 and 2caudio Breeze reverb plus some others). the only thing I do 'outside' is mastering, which takes place in Wavelab Elements.

Ya..... Live with Bias Peak (or Audiofile Wave Editor) for final mixes. I love iZotope Ozone as well.
But Live 8 is by far my favorite DAW. So very many great time saving features.

Right now all I have is Live...I'm very new to this. I plan on getting a few VSTs and such, but sticking with Live as my main/only DAW.
