'skip' loops in warp and arrange

hi.

it would be useful when warping long clips to be able to skip bits of them.

this would mean you could preserve the original audio file, without having to composite and write a new file to the HD.

multiple skip loops would be needed, not just one per track/clip.

anyone?

hell yurr! good call.
i've found myself wanting such a feature a few times. cubase has the ability to either loop OR skip the selected area which can be very handy. but having a skip function in clips would be really smart.

i record a lot of synth freestyle noodlings using the 'resample' track feature, mostly theyre around 20 mins long, and i end up using only a small amount of it. so yea, lots of skip selections would save me having to chop the file up.

i don't think it should use the loops, though. either a seperate but similar-looking gui to the loop brace, or preferably for me (to keep the interface clean) it could actually be brought under the 'delete/paste/duplicate time' functions ('skip time'?). a dedicated non-destructive 'skip time' menu item could do the trick:

select the area you want cutting, right-click it > skip time

i think it should look exactly like the loop brace but appears by hitting a show/hide button in the clip properties.

then maybe we could see little warp like markers or lines to show us where a skip loop is hiding.

know what i mean?

+1

But I was actually here to ask for ability to set several que points in clips. So you can skip through these when DJ'ing

thats also a great idea. maybe 5-10 cues per track/clip then you map your cues to the track. that would mean it triggers the cue in whatever track is playing in that track? howzat..?

i would say chuck it in a new post though...

:)
