Ableton Forum

So I would like to use Ableton for some simple triggering of sounds with a midi controller.
I would like to tweak a sound in Operator then save it and tweak another one (operator sound) and move on and play some stuff.

The chain selector doesnt appearto do this easily. I have to automate the chain selector for each sound ?
So I decided to use Drum Racks ... my midi controller has drum pads so this should be fun !

The Novation Remote 25SL has drumpads but THEY SUCK HARD ...
because you cant actually play the note lengths in you have to set the length of the note by editing the controller template.

Is there a way to play a different sound (preset) on each key or few keys using racks ?
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I am guessing I have to figure out how to map my remote 25SL keyboard to the Drumrack.

try using the key selector instead of the chain selector, but you'll operator will play to this note that way.

Or using the chain selector and and mapping a range of keys to it by holding down the lowest key and highest key in the range. This will map those keys and all the ones in between.

Or just set your DrumRack to receive MidiIN from your keyboard and a particular channel if you like. In the keyboard editor you should be able to map a section of keys on a particular midi channel.

Or look into ClyphX too.

Yeah the key selector would be great if it wouldnt require adjusting the pitch of each operator and it limits the notes i can use for each one.
I use the key selector for sampler and the root key solves that issue.

Didnt know about mapping key ranges to the chain selector!

That sounds like exactly what I need. Ill give it a bash and hope it works!
