Beat and bar timing metronome

ANyone know if there is a vst out that opens as a window and counts down bars and beats? I know there is one in live under each track, but its way too small and I cant see it properly on my laptop when I do live performances.

If anyone can point me to a free or paid mac vst to do this, ill be eternally grateful..

cheers

Got any buttons/pads that receive MIDI and have LED's?

I've got MIDI notes sent OUT to my APC40, so the 8 stop buttons blink to the tempo one at a time.. lets you know where you're at in the bar and tempo, etc..

I believe a midi clip with the right notes at the right intervals routed out to the Launchpad (or whatever) will do the trick. I can't tell you which pads respond to which notes though, I'm afraid, but I'm pretty sure velocity alters the colour.

I believe that is the only way... Something needs to feed the Launchpad with the data, as it doesn't have the capability on its own.

MIDI track with the MIDI out to Launchpad, start putting notes in there and seeing where they flash, keep in mind that different velocities trigger different colors!

it's not that difficult, just involves some poking around.. then you need to make a MIDI track in your sets that runs that clip the whole time.. you could put it on EVERY scene and have the Launch mode to Trigger, and this way nothing except for "stop all" will stop the blink..

Thanks for the info, but I tried it and it wouldnt flash how I wanted it to..

I tried moving the velocities on the midi track up and down, leaving them up every 4 counts.. ??

Tried playing around under the midi out part, changed it to "launchpad out" and even changed the channels it was going through but still no blinking??

Im a bit confused now.. I would actually probably prefer to map it to my edirol pcr-300 so Ive still got 8 tracks in my launchpad.. Any further ideas??

cheers

I'm not sure what step you're missing but I know it works.. make sure the launchpad "Track" output is on?

Its a good idea to use a midiclip like that. With the APC, you can use the Native Kontroll presets: step sequencer on the led triggers. But you need to highlight that track at all times, if you want to se it all the time. Send a mail to Native Kontroll and ask if they have a solution?
Moldower has created a "floating window" beat/bar clock in Max, and its used in one of hes video tutorials. I downloaded hes free stuff, but it wasnt there. But for someone into it, shold be easy for them to create.

You could probably also use an iOS device over wifi, with the proper software.

Ca you get floating windows in Live from Max4Live btw? Or do you need Max standalone. Id like to have this ability too..

You can and Mr. Henke has a device on the Monolake site for just what you're describing.

I'm not sure what the problem is about sending MIDI note out to the Launchpad though. Or any device with lights that respond to notes.

I did finally get it working ! However it used up one of the buttons down the side (launch scene) so Im unable to use that scene at all??

The max floating window sounds great thats more of what Im after really because I need all the 8x8 grid for my tracks..

Thanks for all the great replies though I will be doing research into your suggestions! Many thanks

You're sending the wrong notes then, I believe. Different notes light up different buttons. There is a MIDI reference pdf. Google it. It tells you which notes are what in the user modes. Not in the session and mixer modes though.
