Live icon won't go in Dock

Post by Henry Robinett » Sun Jan 16, 2005 8:50 pm

OK I just upgraded to 4.04. I still have yet to use or get into Live at all, but still I'm very excited. For some reason, after I trashed my Live 3.0 icon from the Dock the new one won't go there. This is n an ancient Dual 450 machine with 10.2.8 Mac OSX. My other mac, 1 gz Alum Powerbook G4 10.3.7 it went in fine. What's up wif' dat? It's just annoying. I'm very accustomed to the dock.
All the best,

i got live in the dock on 10.2.8

but check this...put your live sets folder in the dock...then you can lauch the program when you launch the set you want.

you know to hit get info and check "stationary pad" to make a template? then your still can load a blank template from your list of files (also a great way to have multiple templates)

I’ve also had trouble getting live back in the dock on a couple of occasions,
the solution I tried first was to make an alias of live and put that in the dock.

On anther occasion I moved live near the trash end of the dock and it ended
up between the Trash and the dividing line in the dock,
I was then able to drag it into the left hand side of the dock.*

*I’m beginning wonder if this actually happened maybe I just dreamt it!

Yeah that's it...just drop it on the 'docs/folders' side of the dock, then drag it over to the left! Just don't ask me why...cos I don't know.

Yup, I had this exact same thing. Strange.

I've never had a problem with "docking" any other app, so is it a "problem" with Live, or with OSX?

It's no big deal, really, and there's a work-around. But it is odd.

make the set you want to be the template
(this works with all applications)

highlight it

go under file in the finder window select "get info"
(or just hit "apple-i")
the info screen come up you will see a box labled "stationary pad"
check that box
close the info window.....

now when you launch that file, OSX will make a copy of the file and launch that instead.

when i do this in protools protools then asks me to rename the file

when you do this in live it just adds "copy" to the name of the new file and opens it.

so you can have countless templates
