I'm running (at least I try to...) live 4.0.4 on my pb 1.5 ghz / 2 gb ram, and I consitently suffer from some performance troubles.
I already read that the os 10.3.7 must be a lousy one, I'm still on 10.3.4

I know that there are a lot of experienced freaks reading these forums, has anyone of you some tips or ideas how to increase the performance of my laptop and live 4?

I'm using MOTU 828, the latency is depending on what I do (recording or sampling...)
You said that firewire could be causing the problem, I never had any troubles with 828 before, are there known bugs and troubles with live 4.0.4 and firewire interfaces?
I know that there are a lot of topics about perfomance and possible troubles, I've been surfing through the forum for quite a while. thanx for your contribution, vince, I've noticed your quotes every now and then surfing this forum...

yes mate, unfortunatly there are firewire issues with ableton 4 and firewire interfaces, mostly m-audio, but mutu as well sometimes.

its a bit of a mess to be honest, some poeple are worse off than others.

the best advice i could say is to read as many of the other topics as possible to try and identify your problem exactly.

im hearing that the firewire is running ok on pc's.

good luck
