Can audio clips be pitched across a keyboard range and triggered via a Midi keyboard without affecting the tempo?

try using simpler for that

I don’t have live yet but I asking questions because I am almost sold on purchasing. So what is a simpler? I would assume it is a sampler instrument in live.

you would assume correctly.

I haven't played with it much, but it should do what you want - any sampler vsti should do.

what you are asking is for a multisample sampler right... well simpler only allows one sample at a time... Reason has the best sampler and you can use reason with live.

if you don't have reason... then no.. live can't do multi sample/timbral alone.

simpler will change the tempo

but you can assign midi notes to play with a clips pitch in realtime, it's all in the manual an very simple to set up.

actually, i think that you can do it w/ live. i pretty sure that it's something they introduced in live 3. you don't have the same flexibility to tweak the samples as you do w/ simpler, reason, etc., but i'm pretty sure that it'll do the warping on the fly (ie different pitch, same tempo) it's done in the clip view.

Yes, it is very simple , just go into midi assign mode, select clip and hold down lower and upper range notes to assign them to clip. now you can monophonically play the sample without changing it's tempo.
