hey all,

when djing with live how do i stop the effects sucking away volume from the main mix?

the effects work ok but seem to reduce the volume of the main mix at the same time.

i'm used to using djm800 and thgis dosen't happen on the hardware mixer

set the volumes right, use the faders.

Sorry, but you have to be more specific. Which effect? Where di you place it? On a channel, on a send or on the master?

also, many of live's own effects have an output level - use that.

Hmm - clever - never actually thought of using cancellation on sends - stupid really cos use it so much for other things (great way to make a multiband compressor out of regular compressors and EQ8s for eg).

To OP - need to say what fx you are actually using.

if you speak of a DRY/WET that lower too much dry, then you can easy make the device full wet, group as a rack, create a new dry chain and just map a knob as the chain selector, adjusting booth chains crossfades as you want.

I make an Effects Rack with a delay/reverb whatever in it. i map the dry/wet control to one of the macro controls. if turning the signal to wet lowers the overall volume, i simply insert a utility device into the rack and map the gain to the same macro control, then adjust the range to something like 0db as the lowest and +4db as the highest, thus giving the effect rack a 4db boost when the signal is turned all the way wet, and at unity gain when dry.
