I would love to be able to open 2 different ableton sessions and cut from one session and paste to another.

There is no need for this. You can drag clips etc. directly from the project in the library.

Or import the channels from other sessions, I find this extremely useful.

But don't you think - and I made a thread about this earlier to which no-one responded - its a bit annoying the way its implemented where the Audio and MIDI tracks don't have names, ie you put a plug-in on a track, name automatically changes but name isn't there in the browser when you look at it that way, so you spend ages dragging these nameless tracks across not knowing which one is the right one... am I the only one bugged by that??

Is there a way to access the master chain in a file in the file browser? Like, you can drap and drop channels into your current project from another project, but nothing from the master, it seems... That's the only application I can think of where drag and drop from the file browser doesn't work so well. Sure, you could save, load the other track, export the master chain, then re-open your project and import, but you couldn't do that if you were playing live, for example...

if i have a very specific piece in one track, compleate with complex send/return info, then i can see the value in the ability to have two projects in the same window, or more.

coming from graphic design, ie. adobe products, i can't help but feel that many of adobe's workflows would be tremendously valuable to me. having multiple tabbed projects open with the ability to drag small selections from each would be huge.

I think I recall seeing a post recently where someone said this was a bug introduced some time in one of the version 8 releases.
You will not see the names of tracks in the browser if you let Live automatically name the tracks. If you change the name of the tracks yourself though they should show up.

What I would like is to able to preview the tracks in the browser like you can do with Live clips and samples.

Well, yes you can drag a lot of things from the library but not everything... like return tracks (these one should definitely appear in the library), grouped tracks (they appear individually but not grouped) and everything that is in the master track... sometime you know a set visually and it's not immediately obvious where you're gonna find what you're searching via the library. It could be a plugin setting that is not saved in the device browser too. Opening 2 live sets would be a nice feature for me too sometime!

some of us seem to enjoy working visually on occasion! ;]
