Midi Control in Session mode across clips

I noticed something which is painfully in apropriate in Live8.
Has anybody else seen this?
When clips are recorded with MIDI control changes, example cut-off and volume changes (standard midi no.74 and 7) any following clips in the same track that have no control messages recorded seem to be having those MIDI values forced to zero. Hence Silence!!!!! Yuuuuk. In fact pretty crap with pardoning my language. Should it be rolling back to the previous clips last message?
Is there any way in Ableton Live 8 of seeing the clips MIDI control data?
Im still learning about Ableton i do love the software but in Cubase i never worried too much about this.
