Sorry for the rather not so descriptive subject but I don't know what to call this. I watched a video the other day that I can no longer find. The guy was using fruity loops. He basically linked the incoming note velocity to a reverb dry/wet knob, but had it inverted. So the effect was that when he played a note there was no reverb until he released the note.

Anyone know how I could achieve this in Live? Being able to do it on the fly would be very handy (iow, not through automation, but have it set up on an external instrument that I'm playing).

Sounds like an inverted gate - use the Gate device, have it sidechained from the trigger input that you want to use, and enable "Flip."

Thanks. I gave the gate a quick try but I don't think it's exactly what I want, or I'm just not setting it up perfectly to get the effect I'm looking for. I tried explaining it to someone who has no familiarity with music software and this is the simplest explanation I could come up with, so figured it would help to post it here.

When you look at the midi input level/velocity meter, as you hit notes it goes up, and when you release the note it goes down. What I'd like to happen is the dry/wet knob on the reverb follows this rise and fall, but inverted. So the knob turns toward zero when velocity is high and then turns toward 100% as the velocity drops off.

Does that help make sense of what I'm trying to achieve?
