What are you saying? Do you feel that Reaktor is now not powerful enough as a result of NI brunching out into Kontakt, Battery, Traktor, Spektral Delay, FM7, Pro 53???? Would you rather they stayed on one product for all these years, and consumers be deprived of those other excellent tools?
I am not saying that a new synth in Live is more important than enhancing its core functionality, but, c'mon, give Ableton a break. I am sure they are working on different angles of making Live better, and in fact, everyone was very excited when they spent time developing Simpler and Impulse. The thing is that as long as those were *free* no-one complained about already having a zillion far more powerful samplers and drum machines in their arsenal. So take it easy, let the guys do their job. After all, the sales figures of Operator will be the best indicator of its usefulness to consumers at its price point.

one thing to keep in mind is that they have always worked to improve Live. did anyone think from using Live 1 that it would grow into a fully-fledged yet stable DAW within 3 years? it takes a lot of thought, planning and work to change so much so soon.
also, i can't think of one person who wouldn't get bored doing the same thing all the time. it's only natural that they would try their hand at a synth. on the plus side, they're not making anyone pay for it who doesn't want it. all of us who like free stuff have plenty of free synth options out there. (i myself will reserve judgement until i actually hear it.)

What I mean is that NI spreads themselves thin with all the apps they have and sometimes it takes ages to get one stable.

Hold it there pal. I don't know what you're implying over there in Moscow, but here in New York City if you're "brunching out" it involves waffles and melon and orange juice with that bubbly stuff in it, and it's nothing to complain about.
Give Ableton a break. I mean, they have a successful company but until now they've only had one product to sell (hooded sweatshirt and beach-ready tote bag aside).
They reinvented the DAW, I say, why not have a hack at the synth?

I like my tote bag and my Ableton Mouse Pad! As long as they keep including stickers in the box I'm happy.

I personally love the synth. I aint fooled by shiny metallic interfaces with placebo food presets. I fired up the Operator and am enjoying the sounds coming out of it. I reckon with a bit of tweaking you could loads of great sounds out of it. I've got another FM synth and I gladly swap it for Operator. There aint nothing wrong with Operator but the price.

I have no doubt it's a great synth, but since Live 4 was released last year (and Impulse and Simpler were the only included instruments) I think many people have a good synth collection. It will take a little time to soak in, but eventually everyone will be using it.

can i download live 4.1 without operator? i have no intention of buying it and no desire to demo it atm. there's probably going to be no way to remove it from the "live instruments" folder either, is there.
corey

why? it just sits there in the program. No one is gonna force you to drag it into an empty midi channel.
