Those operator lessons are great

This is really a synth that makes sense to program. especially for rhythmic patches. And those lessons really get you started on discovering the power behind this synth.

Sure fm7 has patches that sound better. but it also has built in effects. and a limited selection of them.
Opposed to Live's routing ability's. witch allows you to throw any effect you want.

And not every parameter is automate-able on most soft synths in Live.
But the operator sure looks like it can give my patches a run for their money

i agree, the tutorials are really useful.
My impressions:
pros: nice to program, nice sounds
cons: expensive, cpu hungry on my pb

Yes, I as well highly recommend everyone to go through the Operator Lessons before passing judgement on this synth. Very cool sounds and ease of use are the big pluses of the Operator. I made some amazing sounds already from this synth (of course I was unable to save them since I'm still in Demo mode.)

Also, being a musician (and not another whining DJ) I think the Operator is a great and much needed addition to Live 4 since the original point of Live was to be a "Live Sequencing Instrument" [read "instrument"]

Price? No Comment.

Before trying and playing the operator , i wasn't to enthusiastic, to be honnest ... but after an hour I'm getting a feel for the power under the hood ... you shouldn't underestimate it , and I doubt that you'll find that many vsti's that give that range of sounds for the cpu use of Operator ... Operator can 'do' many kind of synths out of one instance, which is conveniant from a design point of view ...

It wasn't maybe what I wanted to see from Ableton, but it's a very nice piece of work, that i must say ...

Pitty the pricetag is a tad high ... which i find the only drawback ...

why did you have to be so harsh with the dumbass? Did I hit too close to home? I'm just sick of all these DJs on this forum demanding to turn Live into Tractor and not appreciating what Live is or the efforts Ableton are making... but according to you I'm a dumbass for that? So since you think you know something about me, who the f*ck are you?

Genshi is a dumbass !! he sucked off a horse. Its not that we want to make live like traktor (I already have traktor) but it would be nice to have more features like traktor so we could our heads in 1 enviornment .Do us all a favor and dont judge someones form of expression with out expecting to be judged yourself.

What is with you f*cking @ssholes! I was NOT "judging" DJs, I was referring to the ones who claimed a Synth wouldn't be a useful addition to Live, but all the crap you can get in any typical DJ app would be! The last couple of weeks there were many posts regarding this.

And saying someone sucked off a horse!? Real f*cking mature you idiot! I didn't say ANYTHING in that original post to warrant that...

I have NEVER had a problem on this forum before. But its beginning to smell like all the whining losers from the Propellerheads forum are now showing up here to bitch and complain about Live & Operator... and funny how it DOES seem to always be the DJs... there, now you wanna call me names, go ahead you f*ckwit!

just gonna chime in here and help you understand how you may have offended people

the words Whining DJs leads the reader to believe that everyone "whining" today is just a DJ. and the fact that you refered to yourself, as a musician rather than a whining DJ implies that DJs aren't musicians or couldn't be musicians.

whining "users" would have been a less offensive, less specific term. as i know plenty of the folks whining today are NOT DJs, some are musicians, some aren't, whatever. Users is what we all are, if we use Ableton, so perhaps it would have been a better, less generalized term.

people were offended by your statements for the same reasons that so many folks get offended by the term "you people" (and rightfully so), it also implies a superior/inferior difference between yourself and a gross generalization of the folks you are referencing. In this case the generalization was "DJs"

just a little social etiquette 101 there.

smile! :D
